Advocacy
Patient Advocates
Center staff and volunteers include patient advocates who bring the human voice to our research program and help build partnerships between researchers and the community.
Currently our advocates help:
Review study recruitment and enrollment materials including letters of approach, informed consents, and telephone scripts
Develop community outreach materials such as brochures and newsletters
Assist with protocol modifications and submissions of modifications to our institutional review board (IRB).
Patient advocates are invited to all Center of Excellence meetings, including quarterly scientific meetings and our all-investigator meeting. Over the long term, we hope to involve patient advocates in helping us determine the best ways to use breast cancer biomarkers clinically.
